GifLoop is a native iOS app for making animated GIFs the way you actually want them. Set a different duration on every frame. Pick from seven loop modes. Layer in audio, drawings, and text. Pull a clean background. Tune palette, dithering, and lossy compression yourself. Export to GIF, MP4, MOV, Live Photo, or a frame strip. Every step runs on the device. Nothing leaves your phone.
Free with optional Pro upgrade. Three Pro exports on the house when you install.
Import from your photo library, capture with the camera, extract frames from a video, or start with a blank canvas. Up to 50 frames per project on Pro, 15 on Free.
Hold a frame on a beat. Snap through the next three. Free uses a single duration for the whole loop. Pro lets every frame run for anywhere between 0.02 and 5 seconds.
Forward, reverse, ping-pong, ping-pong with hold, random, fade loop with seamless crossfade, and play-once. Free unlocks forward and reverse. Pro unlocks the rest.
Record with the mic, pull from your music library, or import a file. Trim with the waveform. Volume, fade-in, fade-out. Audio plays forward, even when the loop runs ping-pong. Pro feature.
Show the previous frame, the next one, or both, with adjustable opacity from 10% to 70% and depth up to three frames. Previous frames tint blue, next frames tint red. Lines up tricky animation by eye.
Position, rotation, and scale jitter for organic motion. Color glitch, scan-line displacement, frame-skip stutter, and noise overlay for the rougher look. Lock the seed and the result reproduces every render. Pro feature.
Brightness, contrast, saturation, exposure, hue, blur, and sharpen. Twelve filter presets with intensity control. Drop in text with custom fonts and shadows. Draw on top with Apple Pencil. Lift the subject and remove the background. Pro feature.
GIF and MP4 ship Free. Pro adds MOV (HEVC), Live Photo, and a flat frame strip. Aim for a max file size or hold a target resolution. Share through the system share sheet.
Ten tools, one timeline. The editor is built around the timeline at the bottom of the screen. Drag frames to reorder. Tap a frame to edit it on its own. Tap a tool to apply the operation to the current frame, a range, or every frame. Edits are non-destructive. Undo and redo are tracked per frame.
GifLoop ships its own Swift GIF encoder. No external dependencies. Median-cut quantization, four dithering modes, LZW compression, and frame diffing. You get the knobs.
Pick a format, set targets, hit export. The render runs on your device. The result lands in your Photos library or hits the system share sheet for AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or whatever else you have wired up.
Fresh installs get three free Pro exports. Use them on anything. After that the Free tier kicks in. Pro unlocks the full editor and removes the watermark, forever, no subscription.

Every import, edit, render, and export runs on the device. There is no server, no upload, no analytics, no ad tracking. Photo library access is used only when you ask the app to import. The trial counter lives in your iOS Keychain so a reinstall does not reset it. The encoder, the editor, the effects, the export pipeline are all local.
iOS 17 or later. The app is universal. iPhone and iPad both run the same build.
Yes. The full editor and all five export formats run without a network. Pro purchase and restore are the only steps that touch the App Store.
No. Pro is a one-time $1.99 in-app purchase. Buy once, keep it forever, including every Pro feature added later.
On a fresh install, the first three exports run with full Pro features (no watermark, all formats, all tools). After that the Free tier rules apply unless you upgrade.
Yes. Pull frames from a video in your library and the app samples them out for you. Drop in still images from Photos, Files, or the camera.
You set the target. Pick a max file size and the encoder tunes lossy compression to hit it. Or pick a percentage of canvas resolution. Or both.
No. GIF as a format does not carry audio. Audio is included in MP4 and MOV exports.
A loop mode that crossfades the last frame back into the first one, so the seam disappears. Good for ambient loops where a hard cut is jarring.
Yes. Glitch and jitter use a seed. Lock the seed and the same render comes out every time.
